Tekken Tag Tournament 2′s Fight Lab is perhaps the franchise’s most complete tutorial system, teaching the player how to string together moves by overcoming a series of challenges with a customisable Combot.

A far cry from the wooden dummies of previous Tekken games – which have become characters in their own right – Combot can be modified with attributes and abilities from other characters in the fighter’s expansive roster, making it a kind of build-a-fighter mode alá Soul Calibur V.

Metal Gear Solid 5 may be hiding under a cardboard box right now, but Kojima has laid another teasing tweet over at his official Twitter feed, comparing development of each new MGS game to the Olympics.

Translated by OPM, Kojima’s tweet commented on development of the Metal Gear series, “When asked what the MGS series is to you, I once responded, ‘It’s like the Olympics.’ A big event held every three or four years.”

“You devote your life to the major goal of a fight on the world stage, “Kojima continued, “You think of nothing beyond that. The latter half becomes difficult, and you think that you’ll retire after this.

“The next tournament” could be Metal Gear Solid 5, Project Ogre or something else.

Either way, Kojima is to present a Metal Gear Solid 25th anniversary session in Tokyo on August 30th, and is expected to shed more light on his next project. We’ll have more nearer the time.

GTA 5 chatter and rumour-milling is set to go into overload once again tomorrow, as the Take-Two Q1 2013 investor call kicks off at 4:30 PM eastern time.
Absolutely nothing is known about the Take-Two investor call, but you can listen to the whole thing over at the company’s investor website.

We’ll be keeping an eye on what goes down during the call, although rumours are already flying around regarding the elusive release date for GTA 5.

We’ve already heard that GTA 5 won’t be shown at Gamescom, but analysts are hopeful GTA will launch this year, even if it wont help stem decline in the games industry this year.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is in development over at Capcom, and series creator Hideaki Itsuno has revealed the first snippets of information. Did someone say ‘quest creation’? More after the jump.

OPM reports that in a Famitsu interview, Hideaki explained that only 60-70% of his ideas for the original Dragon’s Dogma made it into the final game, leaving plenty spare for Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Quest creation is one idea that didn’t make the cut, but it’s on Itsuno’s ‘to-do’ list for Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Hideaki also reveals that the Dragon’s Dogma game world was only two-thirds of what he originally wanted. Given that the game is clearly huge in scope, that’s a huge cut.

Grand Theft Auto III was supposed to turn up in this week’s US PS Store update as a PS2 Classic, but it’s been delayed at the last moment by music licensing issues.
Sony advised PSN members of the unfortunate delay via an addendum to the PS Blog’s regular Store update, explaining it as an “unforeseen complication”.
“We will update you when a new release date has been identified. We apologize for the inconvenience,” it promised.
Responding to commenters, community manager Morgan Haro gave more details.
“There were some last minute issues with getting clearance for a certain audio track in the game; but the teams at Rockstar are on it to review how to best get this title on PSN he said.

Tecmo Koei and Team Ninja have released preview images of the in-game DLC costume packs for Dead or Alive 5 known as "DOA Angels" and "DOA Devils". If players pre-order the game, they can choose between two sets of in-game bunny-girl swimsuits: the DOA Angels set of white swimsuits for Kasumi, Leifang, and Hitomi, or the DOA Devils black swimsuits for Christie, Tina, and Ayane. Each suit looks very similar to Kasumi's rabbit costume from the Dead or Alive Xtreme series: a bikini made out of flax-fur, with sandals, a tail on the back of the bikini bottoms and rabbit ears for the head.

Square Enix has launched a new promotional website for United Front’s open-world Hong Kong action epic Sleeping Dogs, the night market . According to CVG, which apparently helped produce the website, the site includes “an Easter egg treasure, teasers, pre-order bonuses and DLC details, plus an exclusive Takedown video for you to unlock showcasing some of the game’s most brutal finishing moves”, but I couldn’t solve the puzzle so whatevs.

Still have your old saves from Darksiders? Good for you for hanging onto them, because they unlock two in-game items in Darksiders II: the Pauldron of the Horsemen and the Chaos Fang. The first is a level 5 piece of armor which boosts Death’s stats and crit damage, while the other is a level 1 scythe which also boosts Death’s crit damage, and overall damage. The in-game item unlocks are based on unlocked Achievements. Darksiders II is out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in just a couple of weeks.

During QuakeCon 2012, id Software provided a look at the Lost Mission from DOOM 3 BFG Edition, which is comprised of “eight never-before-seen levels.” DOOM 3 BFG Edition hits the US October 16 and Europe October 19. It containes re-mastered versions of both DOOM 3, the Resurrection of Evil add-on pack and the aforementioned Lost Mission. It also contains the original DOOM and DOOM II. It will run you $29.99 on PC and $39.99 on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Ubisoft has released a new Assassin’s Creed III trailer focussing on the game’s new engine, AnvilNext. It’s below. Assassin’s Creed III launches at the end of October on PS3 and Xbox 360, is expected on PC by the end of the year, and Wii U sometime around launch of the console.

EA has announced Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel, the third installment developed by Visceral Games, will release next year.
The co-op title takes place on the “deadly streets of Mexico,” as Alpha and Bravo find themselves dropped into the middle of a drug war conflict for an assignment “full of corruption and deceit.”

“We wanted to refresh the Army of Two franchise for a new generation of action gamers, and at the same time, stay true to the core concept that really made the first two games fan favorites,” said Julian Beak, executive producer, Visceral Games.

Sony Santa Monica has posted a look at the Elephantaur – a Minotaur hybrid – which you will be fighting in God of War: Ascension. Apparently, inspiration for the anthropomorphic elephant originated with God of War III, but the idea was scrapped. Add in the fact that Izzy, its concept artist, was once bullied by an elephant in Thailand, and you have yourself a monster you can hack and slash in order to exact revenge for Izzy. Or just because that’s what Kratos would do anyway.

Namco has announced pre-order bonuses for Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch via GameStop and Amazon. Those who pre-order the PS3 title through GameStop will net a SteelBook case with new art, and Amazon pre-orders will provide an in-game giffy familiar which can be upgraded to the griffurnace and griffrigerator. Plus, there’s also the Ni No Starter campaign which increases the bonus items the more the special edition is pre-ordered.

JAW and Oddworld Inhabitants have said to expect news on Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD during gamescom. That’s good news, right? But wait, there’s more.
With more Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee HD news set for September, the firms are calling on the community to help provide a title for the game.

The title Abe’s Oddysee HD isn’t on the table, as it sounds as though the team have added “bigger pictures into the original engine,” when instead it’s a “grounds-up remake with glorious 3D graphics and classic 2D gameplay.”

Metal Gear Solid 4 long-overdue trophy patch is hitting PS3 in Japan this coming Monday August 6, Andriasang reports.
The patch will include trophy support and reduced loading times via a full install option.

It will come pre-packed in a Metal Gear Solid 4 re-pack launching in Japan next month. Konami is officially unveiling the re-pack at a Metal Gear 25th anniversary event in Tokyo on August 30.

Sony said to expect the trophies patch to hit the west in “early August.” Trophies list is through here.
