SuperBot has put up another PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale strategy video on the PlayStation Blog today. Unlike yesterday’s PaRappa the Rapper showcase, though, this one is all about how to win with Twisted Metal’s Sweet Tooth.

Friday Walmart currently has the Xbox 360 version of Assassin’s Creed 3 on sale for $14.98. Pre-ordering the game will net you the added “A Dangerous Secret” in-game mission, and $4.99 of credit for the Vudu movie service.
While the low price is probably just a pricing error on the store’s part, a deal is a deal, so grab a copy while it lasts. Assassin’s Creed is out on October 31 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and on November 23 for PC.
UPDATE: Alas, my friends, Walmart has corrected the error. The game is now listed at the standard price of $59.96 again.

EA has released a new teaser trailer showcasing the multiplayer aspects of the upcoming Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The publisher says the full version of the vid will debut next week at Gamescom. Need for Speed: Most Wanted will launch for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Vita, iOS, and Android on October 30 in North America, and on November 1 in Europe.

Vigil has gone into more depth on Darksiders II’s Crucible Mode, the arena survival challenge with 100 stages in total.
Players are able to opt out with a prize after every five waves and take the reward and run, or try another five waves for an even greater reward – or nothing at all should they perish.

If you live in the West Hollywood area of California, stop by GameStop on August 13 at 9:00pm PDT and you’ll get to meet Cureton in person, and while you’re there, you can sign up for some giveaways such as posters, game covers signed Joe Madureira, a Darksiders II DLC Season Pass and copies of the Darksiders novel The Abomination Vault (thanks, D’toid).
Darksiders 2 lands on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 next week. The Wii U version will follow sometime after the console’s launch.

Dead or Alive 5 seems to be no exception to the cardinal rule of fighting games, which is that the plots have to be batshit insane to explain why thirty people are smacking each other up and all of them can win. Understanding your bafflement, Tecmo Koei has released a flowchart explaining how the main characters relate to each other. Welcome to gaming in 2012. Dead or Alive 5 arrives on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in late September.

A video showing the multiplayer mode in XCOM: Enemy Unknown has been unleashed on YouTube courtesy of Gamespot. In the video posted below, the site discusses the mode, point system, and balancing with lead designer Jake Solomon, and shows the various strategies players can use to defeat their enemies. Players will be able to craft their own squads using 10,000 points available at the start of each match. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will release for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 9 in North America, and on October 12 in Europe.

Rock Band 3 will be the recipient of three new tracks next week from Foreigner and Nightwish. Sorry Tarja-era enthusiasts: it’s Amaranth from 2007′s Dark Passion Play with Anette Olzon on vocals. Still, any Nightwish is better than no Nightwish, even if it would have been hilarious hearing your friends try and hit three different octaves Tarja-style. However, if they can handle a Paramore tune without cracking too horribly, they can pull of Amaranth with ease.
The Foreigner tracks are the ballads I Want to Know What Love Is and Waiting for a Girl Like You. Might wanna turn the lights down low for those, and look deep into your lady’s eyes while singing it.

Each track will run you the usual $1.99/160 MS Points/ 200 WiiP, and all feature keyboard support. Pro Guitar/Bass support is available for Amaranth, for the extra 99 cents.
All three tracks will arrive on PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 August 14, and in Europe on PSN the following day.

Guardians of Middle Earth, the upcoming MOBA from Warner Bros., has been graced with a new profile trailer for Galadriel and the Uruk-Hai, Uglúk. Each guardian has its own specific moves and role in the fight, which you can see for yourself below. Guardians of Middle-earth is slated for a northern fall release on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Sega has announced that the Jet Set Radio HD remake will begin coming to consoles and PC this September for $9.99/800 Microsoft Points.
PlayStation Plus members will get to tag the streets up on September 11, while the rest of the PSN gets the game the next week, on September 18. Xbox Live and Steam players can join in the day after that, while Vita folk have to wait a month longer, until October 16.
Jet Set Radio HD was originally scheduled for release this summer.

Asassin’s Creed 3′s fugitive multiplayer trailer has resurfaced with French subtitles but much better image quality. This trailer, or something very like it, turned up on GameTrailers last month, but was pulled almost immediately.
Wolf Pack, the new mode introduced in this entry, is seen in brief action, and a menu shows Wanted, Manhunt, Artifact Assault, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag. Several new characters appear, and system of unlockable story missions and rewards is shown briefly.
The trailer also confirms a small detail of Assassin’s Creed III and Vita tie-in Liberation’s plot – that Abstergo has commercialised the Animus.

Pricing for the complete package is set at 199.99, which means that it competes directly with the 3DS and the Vita and runs the risk of only appealing to hardcore collectors, rather than the original perception of offering cheap arcade fun on the go when the console first made itself known earlier this year.
Whatever the case may be, the $199.99 price is certainly better than the $599-$699 range for the original console and that was originally without a game included until SNK thought better of it and later included one or two pack-in games depending on the package purchased. The console will launch with the following games pre-loaded, but Tommo has so far not commented on how additional games will be made available for the console:

BioWare’s director of online development Fernando Melo has said there is significant demand for day one DLC despite its unpopularity in some circles. “Contrary to what you might hear on the internet, fans do want more content. They tend to say, ‘I want it now,’” Melo told audiences at GDC Europe, as reported by IGN.
“The problem with day one content and the challenge around it is that the right answer for now is different for every player. There is no single right time, there is no single now. It’s subjective, and it’s unique to every player.”

As reported earlier, Melo revealed that a significant proportion of players never finish BioWare’s games, which means there’s little point in waiting a few months before releasing extra content so that people can finish what ships on disc.
“In that case, you’re making it available on their time. They choose when to pick that up. It’s not based on us. It’s not based on some first-party release schedule. It’s there, if they want it they can pick it up day one. If they don’t, they can wait until they’ve finished their game,” he said. Although many developers create dedicated teams to produce DLC, or being work on it after the core game is complete, a vocal minority continues to find the whole idea quite distasteful, believing that it robs players of content which should be included in the base game. Melo said the best approach to this issue is to patiently stick to your message.

“If you have a consistent culture of how you’re communicating to your fans, that will increase the number of people that are more likely to believe in your explanation,” he said.
“You’re not lying to them, but they will take whatever you’re saying as like, ‘you’re lying to us.’ That will always be there. The only way that that’s going to go away is you fast forward a few more years, where this is just normal.
“Every game is digital from day one. Every game is an ongoing service, almost like an MMO, where on any given day new content shows up. Maybe that’s part of the base package, and maybe it’s a premium feature.”

Of course alot of people want day 1 downloadable content, what do you expect when they're not getting their money's worth when they pay the day 1 price tag. It's not that fans do want more content, it's the fact that fans aren't getting a full game for the price they're paying.

The US release date of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has slipped. The brawler, which was previously slated for a release on October 23, has now been pushed back to November 20 in the US according to the PlayStation Blog.
“The Battle Royale Begins November 20th. SuperBot Entertainment president announces a new release date for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale,” reads a post on the front page, which we took a screengrab of, although the link to read the article in full isn’t working at the moment.
The game doesn’t have a fixed release date for Europe but is expected to release on November 21 in the region, for both PlayStation 3 and Vita

God of War: Ascension was the recipient of a new gamescom trailer today, and the firm also announced it will be launching a global multiplayer beta for the game in the near future. It will be made available exclusively at first to PS Plus subscribers with a “few other secret inroads.”
Players will “pledge your allegiance” to one of four Gods: Zeus, Hades, Ares and Poseidon. Each God will offer a unique combat play-style and abilities in battle. The “attack-style” of the God players align with will effect the each Warriors’ “path.”
