Subject: New Uncharted 3 maps next week Fri Apr 06, 2012 1:28 pm
Naughty Dog are bringing about a new map pack for Uncharted 3 next Tuesday; the Drake’s Deception map pack will add all-new locations to the game’s multiplayer, based off of the latest adventure in the blockbuster franchise.
Four maps will be included. There’s Graveyard, Old Quater, London Streets and Oasis settings, based off of the campaign’s various settings.

The dynamic events that the multiplayer pitched itself on this time around will also return, with boats showing up to gun players down, or supply planes that drop crates out of the sky.
The DLC goes free to anyone with the Fortune Hunter’s Club membership, and $9.99 otherwise. The club’s offerings actually come to a close on April 17, but the Dogs have promised more U3 DLC will appear afterwards.
Subject: THQ “won’t be around in six months,” says T2 CEO; THQ responds Fri Apr 06, 2012 1:45 pm
Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption publisher Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has made a rather harsh prediction towards fellow publisher THQ’s future; it won’t be around in six months, he believes.
The reason for THQ’s recent troubles lies behind its focus on licensed games, as opposed to T2′s approach which includes original properties, but also the quality of its products.
“The most important difference is quality,” Zelnick said while speaking at the MIT Business in Gaming conference. “Take-Two has the highest quality ratings among third-party publishers, according to Metacritic and most people in the industry.
CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE THQ “won’t be around in six months,” says T2 CEO; THQ responds
Quality really, really, really matters. THQ has had some good games, but their quality levels aren’t even remotely … the quality hasn’t measured up.”
He add: “Strategy didn’t work and the execution was bad. To put it another way: the food was no good and the portions were small.
“THQ won’t be around in six months.”
THQ didn’t take kindly to such a prediction and has since responded, telling Zelnick to essentially mind his own business: “Obviously, Mr. Zelnick’s perception of THQ is outdated and inaccurate. His comments are irresponsible and false. Perhaps he would be better off commenting on his own business.”
THQ has made a number of changes to its business in recent months, the most recent of which is converting its Warhammer MMO into a single- and multiplayer game due to not finding a partner to complete it with.
No company has avoided the monster of poor quality. Every title by every gaming company has some sort of glitches or bugs, Take-Two Interactive is no exception. I agree, Mr. Zelnick would be better off commenting on his own business. And i find it very funny Mr. Zelnick & Take-Two Interactive wants to cry poor quality about THQ when Take-Two Interactive has Duke Nukem Forever. 10yrs between the previous DukeNukem title & Duke Nukem Forever & Take-Two Interactive still smurfed it. Get your own affairs in order before you point out some else's.

Subject: "Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II" Release Date Announced Sat Apr 07, 2012 11:35 am
Back when we last talked about Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II, we got to see a lightning-fast trailer that not only showed off markedly improved gameplay from the first game, but quite a bit featuring Sonic's two-tailed pal Tails.
You won't have to wait much longer to get your hands on this, as the game has been announced for a May 16th release on PSN and Xbox Live Arcade. For those of you who'd prefer to battle Eggman and Metal Sonic on the go, there's an iOS release also planned for May, an Android version set for June, and a Windows Mobile version arriving in July.

Subject: Cage: Open-World Games Can Look As Good As Kara Sat Apr 07, 2012 6:23 pm
Quantic Dream’s recent Kara tech demonstration was seriously impressive, but many sceptics criticised that the visuals only looked so good because of the confined nature of the environment it was set in. That’s not true according to gaffer David Cage, who claims that the visual fidelity of the demo could be maintained on a much bigger scale if necessary. Speaking in the latest issue of EDGE magazine, he explained: We can have an open-world with the same quality. Hopefully, we’ll demonstrate it soon. Of course, that doesn't mean that Quantic Dream’s next game will be open-world, but it’s certainly not stopping us from salivating at the potential.

Things get taken a step further with customizable heads. Your character in Borderlands 2 is going to be truly yours more than ever before. On top of that there’s a special bonus for all players of the first Borderlands: everyone who has played the first game will receive a unique skin and head. The biggest news however is something that is on the way after the game launches: a new character! At some point the plan is to add a new character called the “Mechromancer”, another female character! What can a Mechromancer do? That’s not entirely locked down at this time but we were shown concept art of what was referred to as “Deathtrap”. Borderlands 2 just got real. The plan is to launch this DLC within 60 to 90 days of the game launching, though nothing is concrete at this time.

The best part? If you join the Borderlands 2 ”Premiere Club” you’ll get the new character for absolutely free! (borderlands2.com/preorder) The team also announced that there will be a number of special editions for the game in a number of tiers. Mention was made of one edition costing $99 and another after that for $149 which will actually come in a physical loot box from the game!

This is something I find irritating in any FPS that has "character customization". You as the player cannot see your character, I think any FPS that has character customization, should be a third person shooter. I can understand weapon customization because you actually see your weapon, but not character customization.

Electronic Arts published a new video of Medal of Honor: Warfighter, featuring Executive Producer Greg Goodrich having a chat with Tom Muson, Director of Sales and Marketing at Trijicon, maufacturer of optical sighting devices used by the U.S. Army. The publisher partnered with Trijicon in order to use their expertise and products (like the popular ACOG sight) in the game, allowing for more realistic gameplay.

I very much agree. Unless character size plays a role, It's pointless & a waste to have character creation in first person view.
Subject: Jordan Weisman Updates Us on Shadowrun Returns, Talks About New Goals Sun Apr 08, 2012 10:00 pm
The Shadowrun Returns project has been doing really well on Kickstarter, reaching the funding goal in little more than a day. It’s almost at the $650,000 mark as I’m writing. Harebrained Schemes posted a video in which game director Jordan Weisman aswers a few questions and updates us on what the development studio would be able to do if the funding will surpass a million dollars. First of all we learn that with the current funding the project has already been expanded, adding a Mac version, German, French and Spanish localization and the drone-controlling Rigger class.

In addition to that, if the coveted million will be reached, we’ll see a second setting in addition to the iconic city of Seattle (and backers will be able to vote on what city will serve as that additional setting), better music and an improved editor, made more accessible and powerful. Weisman also lets us know what the studio will not do, and that’s adding multiplayer features to the game.
Subject: Animator’s resume slates GTA5 for October Mon Apr 09, 2012 12:14 pm
Rockstar may be looking grab some of that sweet, sweet holiday pie; Grand Theft Auto V will be out this October, a character animator’s resume has revealed.
Far from official, of course, but this is the first indicator of when the game could launch. When initially announced, the studio didn’t even attach a year.
With Max Payne 3 out next month (sans demo), it wouldn’t have surprised if GTA would be held back until next spring. But maybe not.
The animator in question is Alex O’Dwyer. The resume has since been pulled.
