Publisher Tecmo Koei’s slipped out of the shadows in order to share some details about Ninja Gaiden 3′s beefy collector’s edition. Due out alongside the slash ‘em up’s vanilla release on March 20th, the limited edition package bundles a bunch of familiar goods. There’s a copy of the game, an artbook, a soundtrack, and a model of protagonist Ryu Hayabusa about to slit someone’s throat. Appropriate.Perhaps most excitingly, the collector’s edition also includes a downloadable voucher for a four character demo of Dead Or Alive 5. Those of you that don’t want the dust collecting contents of the main collector’s edition can grab a two character demo of Dead Or Alive 5 if you pre-order from Amazon or GameStop.

The Amazon demo includes access to Ayane and Hayate, while the GameStop demo features Hayabusa and Hitomi. Naturally, all four characters will star in the collector’s edition version.If you want the collector’s edition, you’ll need to venture into your nearest GameStop, as the bundle is an exclusive to the US retailer. Seems like Tecmo Koei really understands the masochistic nature of its game’s audience.

Ignore Lollipop Chainsaw’s antagonist Swan’s similarities to The Cure frontman Robert Smith, because it definitely ain’t like heaven at San Romero High School. As previous trailers have established, Lollipop Chainsaw is a zombie game with a bubblepop twist. Could there be a more fitting bad-guy than a misunderstood high-school goth?Sure, Lollipop Chainsaw looks absolutely stupid, but that’s what makes it so curiously exciting. It’s baffling that designer Suda 51 continues to get away with making these type of games, but long may it continue.

Yesterday, the American ratings board outed the release of the original Killzone for PS3 — something that Sony confirmed within hours of the rumours hitting the net.Today, eagle eyed gamers have spotted a similar listing for stealth favourite Hitman: Blood Money. As such, we’re not even going to bother tagging this report as a rumour. Trust us: it’s coming.While it’s nice to see classic PlayStation 2 titles finding a new audience on the PlayStation Network, we must admit that we’ve been spoiled by all the great HD remasters over the years.

We’re pretty sure 2K Games understands that February is a stacked month for games. With Binary Domain, Grand Slam Tennis 2 and the launch of the PlayStation Vita all vying for your cash — the publisher hopes that by releasing a demo for The Darkness II your money will gravitate towards its dark, comic-book inspired game.It’s unclear what The Darkness II’s demo will contain at this stage, but publisher 2K Games has promised that North American players will get to samplesomethingcome January 24th. As usual, European players will have to wait an additional day for the PlayStation Network’s January 25th update.

It may seem like an eternity since we last got to play a Silent Hill title, but at least March should make up for the drought. Konami’s announced that three titles in the survival horror series will release during the month, with the Silent Hill HD Collection first out of the blocks on March 6th. It’ll be followed by new entry Silent Hill: Downpour on March 13th, with PlayStation Vita exclusive Silent Hill: Book Of Memories rounding out the horror fest on March 27th.We’re not sure whether this is a genius move on Konami’s part, or just an outright crazy one. On the one hand, it should ensure that the month of March is dominated by the survival horror franchise.

It' appears that THQ is in a state of turmoil, which is the result of bad business practices, (i.e. pricing of games) and are now looking to be bought! They even went as far as cancelling the games they had scheduled for 2014. Some say it's rumor, others say it's true, either way, it's a possibility.

But while the mechanics appear familiar from a birds-eye view, the “Total Racquet Control” system does offer something fundamentally different.Admittedly, the system isn’t immediately intuitive. The final game will probably solve this issue by the inclusion of a tutorial mode — or “Tennis School” — notably greyed out from our demo, but there’s a legitimate criticism to be pointed at the game’s learning curve. Once you get a feel for “Total Racquet Control” though, it makes perfect sense, although it’s not quite the game changer EA hopes it will be.At a basic level, the control system adapts your shots, power and placement all depending on the motions you input using the right analogue stick. A simple push forward results in a flat shot, with the direction and speed of the push impacting placement and power.

The flat shot can be modified using the L2 button in order to perform a basic lob. Similarly, pulling the analogue stick backwards and then swiftly forwards executes a trickier top-spin shot, while simply flicking the stick backwards prompts a slice. Holding the R2 button while performing a slice executes a tricky drop-shot.The system works, but can be temperamental. After years of being conditioned into making shot placement with the left analogue stick, it feels scandalous using the right analogue stick. But worse than that, while the system is designed with precision in mind, it doesn’t always feel as sturdy as it should — particularly when playing slice shots, which practically require you to stab the analogue stick in order to hone your placement.

While Soul Calibur IV’s online features were good enough, they lacked some of the more sophisticated social functions popularised by other fighters. Soul Calibur V hopes to change that, with an enhanced lobby system underlining the game’s multiplayer upgrades. Demonstrated in a new trailer, the updated multiplayer will allow spectators to comment on in-progress matches while they occur. We suspect there’s going to be a lot of, “Oh no, not another Maxi button masher,” comments when we’re in the ring.

Several CVs for Eidos employees (uncovered on NeoGAF) seem to suggest that the upcomingThief 4will feature some sort of an online mode.Most telling is this employee’s LinkedIn profile which states: “Involved in many aspects such as networking, gameplay, debugging, online and offline tools on Thief 4.”Could this mean multiplayer is in store for the sequel or something different? Leaderboards perhaps?Also mentioned is the use of Unreal Engine, which could well power the game.Still, we’d like to actually see the game at this point instead of speculation

More Dead Islandis on the way, but it’s not the recently-rumored Dead World.For now, we’ll have to settle for new story DLC that puts players in the shoes of Ryder White, the antagonist from the first game. This new campaign will provide insight into White’s motivations as well as a few of the incidents that took place during the main game. Features-wise it comes packing two new blueprints and weapons.There’s a February 1 release date on this one, coming in at 800 MS points/£7.99 for PSN and Steam.

The release of Max Payne 3 has slipped by a few months, Rockstar has just sent word.Previously on for March, the game is now targeting May; the 15th in North America and 18th internationally on consoles, and on PC on the 29th in NA June 1st internationally.“We do not take changes to our release schedule lightly, and this short delay will ensure that Max Payne 3 delivers the highest quality, groundbreaking entertainment experience that is expected from our Company,” said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two of the decision.“Max Payne 3 promises to be one of our most exciting releases to date, and we are confident that consumers will once again be amazed by Rockstar’s ability to take interactive entertainment to another level.
