Capcom’s poured water on the recent Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon Citybeta chatter.As producer Mike Jones told Joystiq at Capcom’s Gamer’s Day event, “we’re nearing a pretty solid beta, which will be out early next year.” Turns out that was just a bit of miscommunication.The company’s released an official statement, saying there won’t be a beta nor a demo for the title.“There has been some media coverage this week stating Capcom will run a public beta and release a demo for its upcoming title Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City. Unfortunately this was due to a website misreporting what was said during an interview,” it’s written on Capcom Unity.There will be Capcom-held community events where players can head to try out the game though. When Square Enix purchased Eidos, many expected it to become a second line of business for the Japanese publisher. Nobody could have anticipated it would become the premium portion.But with the publisher’s traditional franchises floundering a little, it’s down to the likes of Deus Ex and Tomb Raider to prop up the Japanese company’s finances. Ubisoft is putting some of those means of travel, kills and deaths on show this week as a demo for Rayman Originsis scheduled to arrive on both Xbox Live and PSN.Due out this Wednesday, the sampler will offer three maps to play through, from the Jungle, Food and Ocean worlds. Despite reaching a deal with Sony, Ubisoft still very much have control over the Assassin’s Creedmovie. An insider has told Vulture that the publisher still maintains near-complete control over the project, including budget, scripting, and ever the right to pull the plug on the whole thing.According to the insider it’s a deal even Spielberg couldn’t get in this day and age, and could result in the film never even getting made. Ubisoft will reportedly be responsible for the majority of the film’s development though. Many of you have probably noticed the recent Steam forums downtime, but Valve have today confirmed that it's more than just technical issues. In an message sent to the Steam user base, Valve chief Gabe Newell revealed that not only were the Steam forums defaced by hackers, but customer database records of forum users were accessed.We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums. This database contained information including user names, hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. We do not have evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders, or that the protection on credit card numbers or passwords was cracked. Noire debacle is behind him and that, as a free agent, he's currently working on a new title he's been pitching to publishers described as "one of the great untold stories of the twentieth century". "A lot of people who were working on L.A. Noire have gone across to KMM," he told the site of the Team Bondi situation. "Some of them to be working on some of the film projects.
