WRC 3 has received more gameplay footage from developer Milestone, this time showing off the dreary Welsh rally in all its soggy glory. The game also looks hard as nails, which should bode well for fans of old school rally games.

Mega Man’s 25th anniversary is next year, and the hero’s most loyal fans are expecting something suitably weighty from Capcom to celebrate – but the publisher has warned not to get too excited about an expected December announce. In December ‘some but not all’ plans for the coming year of celebrations will be shared. There are many moving parts and not everything will be done and final come December,” senior vice president Christian Svensson wrote on Capcom Unity.
“No one has promised a game or even an announcement of one at that time. Please do keep expectations in check.”

Forumites continued to complain about the cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3 and Universe, as well as the recent lack of major releases under the franchise’s banner, with Svensson returning in a later post to explain further.
“In the past, we’ve tried to be extremely open about Mega Man. Unfortunately for a variety of reasons (not the fans’ fault, twas ours) that didn’t work out terribly well. Being open about things before we’re absolutely positive of the plans getting executed given the heightened sensitivity about the topic is the order of the day at this point,” he said of Capcom’s silence on the franchise’s future.
“You’ll have to take me at my word unfortunately. I, personally, am fighting very hard for Mega Man. I’m sorry it has taken as long as it has.”

“Plans changed once Universe and Legends were halted. That’s the other issue – plans change ALL the time. So while we have things planned out, they move, they shift and unfortunately, sometimes they get cancelled as was the case with Legends and Universe.
“So sharing plans, that aren’t as firm as concrete in the current environment doesn’t strike anyone as a good idea. Could you imagine the blow up if we announced another Mega Man title and cancelled it? I can and I don’t think anyone would appreciate it.”

Tales of Xillia 2 has a new TV spot shown in Japan. It’s only 15 seconds long, but it gives you the first direct-feed look at Milla in the sequel. Tales of Xillia 2 launches exclusively on PS3 in September in Japan and in 2013 for Europe and North America.

After the atrocious Duke Nukem Forever, we’re not sure we want to set eyes on the series' potty-mouthed protagonist ever again – but, despite owning the fantastic Borderlands franchise, developer Gearbox still reckons there’s room for new games starring the original video game macho man. For those not up to date, Gearbox acquired the Duke Nukem franchise back in 2010 – and according to studio gaffer Randy Pitchford, it did so with the intention of releasing more games than Duke Nukem Forever. “I willingly and lovingly acquired the brand. Square Enix, is doing a bit of backpedaling, as they stated, that details on the PS3 version of FF XIV would be presented at TGS. They now say, the PS3 version of FF XIV will come out in mid-October, around which time they will give more details. However, Naoki Yoshida, the games producer has talked about FF XIV's housing system, in which players can choose their surroundings (i.e. Forest, Sea, and Wilderness) as well as purchase land, and the right to build their own house. They can also build a chocobo farm in their yard.
Rock Band fans, now is the time to grab that Grateful Dead pack you’ve been on the fence about. Oh, who am I kidding – nobody’s on the fence about the Grateful Dead. Assuming you have been debating whether to grab some new songs and dust off the plastic guitars (mine are less dusty, more covered in grubby fingermarks from constant use), head on over to the Rock Band forum to download a PDF listing which songs are on sale.

An interesting bit of information from the sale is that Harmonix has released new Rock Band DLC for over 250 weeks in a row. The developer continued loyally supporting its products even when Rock Band 3 was less well received than expected, eventually leading to Viacom dropping the team, which bought itself for a reported $10.
In the interim, Harmonix has put together three Dance Central games and the downloadable, instrument-free Rock Band Blitz – oh he, what’s that? All Rock band DLC is compatible with Blitz, too? Score.
The Amazing-Spider Man will expand with two DLC packs this week – but only on PlayStation 3. The first hint that the DLC would be platform exclusive – something of an unusual occurence for Activision games – was its announcement via the US PS Blog.
The PlayStation Twitter later confirmed the new content as exclusive – although they don’t add any new trophies.
The Lizard Rampage Pack lets you play as the LIzard and includes Peter Parker’s first costume, the Vigilante Suit.
The Oscorp Search & Destroy Pack adds two new mini-games.
In addition to the two exclusive packs, two new characters will be added in this week’s US PS Store update – Stan Lee and the Rhino, both previously available only through pre-order incentives.
The packs will be priced between $3 and $4 and available in a bundle for $10.
Spark Unlimited is working on an “adventure series reboot,” for Capcom according the latest rumor in PSM3. That’s not all though: the game is supposedly Onimusha 4. No word on how they know this. Last year, Yoshinori Ono said it was time to resurrect the Onimusha series, but he would like to see it “progress beyond the standard single-player adventure,” he said. The last Onimusha console title was released in 2006.
Starhawk single-player launches for free for Plus members tomorrow in Europe, and as announced last week, the multiplayer will also be made available separately for €19.99/$19.99/£15.99. You can also pick up the entire game through PSN for €34.99/$39.99/£28.49.
Update 1.04 is also available today for free and comes with new gameplay modes, weapons, mechs, community changes and more.
Resident Evil 2 holds a fond place in many horror fans’ hearts, and is well overdue for an HD brush up. Capcom isn’t exactly against the idea, either. Capcom’s Yoshiaki Hirabayashi told Gamespot that a Resident Evil 2 remake is indeed a possibility.
“If the fans really clamor for it; if there’s a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that’s something Capcom would take under consideration,” he said.
Don’t take that as any sort of confirmation, as he prefaced it with a flat-out denial.
“Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there’s no rumour-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now.”
Resident Evil 6 revisits the urban US setting familiar to series fans, suggesting Capcom knows how much we miss Resident Evil 2′s mean streets. It’s due in November on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version to follow.
Codemasters has revealed the first gameplay footage of GRID 2, its summer 2013-due racer sequel for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, at the Eurogamer Expo in London today. The clips showcase the “fast-paced action” of the California Coast, and the “winding roads” of the windy city Chicago.

Atlus has released a new patch for Persona 4 Arena across both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The update cleans up a number of general, game balance, and network issues, as well as a bug preventing some players from obtaining the “Network Mode Level 30″ trophy / achievement.
It’s available now. So go ahead and give it a download.

Max Payne 3 is set to receive a new DLC pack over the next few months, adding four new multiplayer maps, as well as additional weapons and items. The Hostage Negotiation Map Pack is due in northern autumn – which we’re in, obviously – and will go for $10 on PC and PlayStation 3 or 800 MS Points on Xbox 360. It’s included in the Rockstar Pass though, so subscribers will grab it at no additional cost.
The pack has been expected for some time and Rockstar issued an apology over its delay.

The O Palácio Strip Club and Favela Heights maps introduce to multiplayer all new, highly detailed favela territories from Max’s descent into the gang-infested neighborhoods of the city. The M24 Sniper Rifle and the IA2 Assault Rifle, the new Explosive Burst for explosive booby traps, the Bomb Suit item to protect against explosive damage and the Intimidation Mask item to cause slower reload times for your enemies.

EG Expo head Rupert Loman yesterday followed PAX bosses in outright banning the use of booth babes at his event. E3 and gamescom must follow his lead on this offensive anachronism, says Patrick Garratt. One of the fiercest debates in games this year has centred on sexism, and more specifically on whether or not its overt form – both in terms of content and marketing – still has a place in the industry. The entire subject crystalised yesterday when Eurogamer Expo promulgated an apology for allowing booth babes into its 2012 event, adding that their presence would be spiflicated from next year’s show.

This is great or terrible, depending on who you are. Feminists in both the specialist and mainstream media have seized on the topic recently, calling for a serious shift in attitudes from publishers, developers and journalists when it comes to inimical depictions of women. Right wingers, usually timidly waving their breast-shaped flags on social media as opposed to presenting a cogent argument as to why the rubric of games brutally sexualising the female form should be maintained, have been in a perpetual state of eye-rolling at the entire morass. A clamp-down on booth babes and sexualisation seriously represents censorship and inhibits freedom of expression and speech, say they. Utter ********. The notion is, of course, ridiculous and indefensible. A great many people are offended by sexist marketing. It’s 2012, not 1990.

Women’s rights, quite correctly, present a ferocious contemporary battleground, and one that must be ultimately won by proponents of plenary sexual equality. Rupert Loman, the managing director of Eurogamer Network and the boss of Eurogamer Expo, is right to have taken a stand in this case. A company who hadn’t exhibited at the show before arrived this year with a gaggle of soubrettes wearing QR codes on their hot-pants. In case it wasn’t clear, the idea of this “stunt” was that people should use their phones to scan the codes in from models’ backsides on the showfloor. If you have this kind of activity in your show, you’re associated with it. You’re condoning it. Rupert clearly decided he didn’t want his name mired with presenting this style of sell-tactics to the thousands of children and families that crammed into Eurogamer Expo last week. If you’re still arguing that big-tit marketing in a show open to the general public is “just a bit of fun,”
