Subject: Rumor Patrol: ‘Assassin’s Creed 3′ Set During American Revolution Fri Jan 27, 2012 9:25 pm
Rumors and speculation have been no stranger to the Assassin’s Creedseries since it became clear that surprising players was one of the development team’s main goals. While the setting and events of Assassin’s Creed 3have been kept under tight wraps, it seems that some close to the project are already whispering. The world of political intrigue and shadowy assasinations on hand for Assassin’s Creed 3is apparently none other than the American Revolution.Loyal readers will be less surprised by this new development, since we provided our case for why the early days of the American colonies would make for a perfect game.

Not long after we let our desires be known, Ubisoft consulted the fans themselves on where they would like to see the franchise head for its climax, with colonial America as one of several possible time frames. But that was all theory and conjecture, and while Ubisoft was willing to admit that AC3would indeed have a new hero any hints have been hard to come by. Ezio and Desmond uncovered several clues in both Brotherhood and Revelations, but the new reports cited by CVGare hopefully more free of fiction. According to the site, a source close to the project has confirmed the suspicion that the next game would be jumping the pond to North America, and Ubisoft is likely to unveil more plot details by April 2012.
Subject: Re: 69Osom GAMER'S SOULS WITHIN (Sept 21 2011-Apr 26 2012) Fri Jan 27, 2012 10:03 pm
The source also confirms a new protagonist is on the way, which we assume means Desmond will be walking the genetic footsteps of a new ancestor.Considering just how much evidence has been hinting at a shift west, this news isn’t exactly a bombshell. Since terms like ‘Early America’ and ‘Revolution Era’ encompass the better part of a century or two, having this suspicion confirmed leaves as much unanswered as laid to rest. Will it be European settlers going to war with the Native Americans? That’s possible, considering the tribal clothing and writing linked to ‘the ones who came before’ in the franchise’s mythology. Or will it be the British and American forces bringing new life to the classic battle between Assassin and Templar?
Subject: Re: 69Osom GAMER'S SOULS WITHIN (Sept 21 2011-Apr 26 2012) Fri Jan 27, 2012 10:07 pm
A story that precedes the Revolution itself could work for a few reasons. Shadowy ‘Europeans’ seeking the knowledge and treasure of the sacred natives would be more palatable for a modern audience than ‘evil Brits’ and ‘good Americans,’ and exactly how the Assassins would fit into that struggle is harder to grasp. Sure, the Freemasons could be Templars – thanks, National Treasure– but we’re hoping to be surprised. What are your thoughts on the rumored setting? Think one time or setting would be better than the other, or are you hoping Ubisoft has something altogether different planned for “the franchise’s biggest game yet“?Assassin’s Creed 3 (title unconfirmed) will release during the 2012 holiday season for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Subject: SoulCalibur V DLC detailed Sat Jan 28, 2012 9:35 pm
Fighting games wouldn’t be anywhere near as fun without ridiculous clothing items to dress our favorite brawlers in. SoulCalibur V clearly realizes this, and will be releasing DLC accordingly on February 3, the game’s European launch.Inside the pack will be nine exotic clothing items, including bikinis, wigs and face paints. More items will be released on Valentine’s Day (February 14), including a kimono, a breast plate and different animal heads. February 28 will see one more release with additional face paints and camouflages. All packs will also feature past music from the series. European pricing is at €1.99 or 160 MS points, no word on other territories for now.

SoulCalibur V isn't even out & DLC is already planned. It's very sad that the only thing gamers unlock in games today are trophies or achievements. Any possible rewards unlocked from playing & showing your gaming skills are withheld & sold to you, i guess it's business before the gamer. http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2012/01/27/soulcalibur-v-dlc-detailed/
Subject: Something Dragon’s Dogma Related Is Set To Occur On January 31st Sun Jan 29, 2012 9:26 pm
January 2012 has been something of a damp squib. Last year we were knee deep in game of the year contenders such as Mass Effect 2, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Dead Space 2. This year we delved into, erm, Zack Zero? But as February approaches, so does change. Seriously, if you haven’t already pored over February and March’s insane release schedule, we suggest you go take a look now. It’s crazy. While January’s been a disappointment, Capcom’s hoping to close the month with a bang. In a post on Capcom Unity, the Japanese publishers promised a “plethora of very exciting new details” about upcoming role-playing game, Dragon’s Dogma.

Capcom announced Dragon’s Dogma last year, only to let it completely drop off the map. Seriously, other than the inclusion of an ambitious character sharing mechanic — which allows you to recruit player created NPCs into your own world — we couldn’t tell you a single thing about Dragon’s Dogma. That’s probably not a good thing for a game (supposedly) due out in March

Subject: Controversy Strikes Kingdoms OF Amalur: Reckoning Mon Jan 30, 2012 2:04 pm
Just as Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning, was ascending into the gaming stratosphere, it got struck by controversy, which came in the form of EA announcing an online pass for the title. EA basically said that, unless gamers buy new, they will NOT have access to the Mass Effect 3 tie in's (which basically comes form playing the KOA demo, by being signed into EA online) as well as have too pay for "The House Of Valor" DLC, which has been announced as Day 1 DLC! This in turn, resulted in backlash from gamers anticipating the game, which 38 studios community manger, muse, responded:
”The House of Valor content was not in the finished game/disc at one point, then removed. It isn’t there and we’re locking you out of it. The House of Valor was created as stand-alone content, and was always intended to be the first DLC. Instead of holding onto it and charging for it later, we opted to give it to everyone who purchases the game new, for free, on launch day.”
The statement, seems to have quieted many of the gamers rage, but some still feel that if they don't buy new they should still get the DLC.

Now while some may believe that not purchasing Reckoningas a method of getting back at EA will hurt them, thus resulting in a change in their online pass strategy, you’re wrong. The only people you’re hurting if you choose not to buy Reckoning are the staff at 38 Studios, and BigHugeGames. Both studios have gone through a lot to get this game going and completed, going as far as working 7 days a week to make sure this game is up to snuff. So to those that have chosen not to purchase Reckoning solely based on the fact that it has an online pass, I ask you to reconsider your choice.
Maybe gamers shouldn't buy MassEffect3 to show how they feel.
Subject: BioWare on Mass Effect 3′s “harsher” Insanity Mode Mon Jan 30, 2012 10:47 pm
When it comes to videogames, we like to say “get hard or go home”.Okay, maybe that didn’t come out quite the way we wanted it to. But basically, we like our games to be challenging, and the good folks at BioWare have realized that, which is why they’re pushing a “harsher” Insanity Mode for Shepard to face this time around in Mass Effect 3.According to lead designer Preston Watamaniuk, those playing on the harder difficulty mode will have to rely on powers as well as shooting to get by. He told OXM: ”You’ll notice that if you play on Insanity, that sort of general rule of thumb is even harsher. You’d better be doing everything well, or you’ll die.”Watamaniuk also revealed the inspiration behind a harder setting:

Subject: Re: 69Osom GAMER'S SOULS WITHIN (Sept 21 2011-Apr 26 2012) Mon Jan 30, 2012 10:59 pm
”I had a lead designer for another game write to say ‘make Insanity harder!’ And I was like “OK!” This was a really well-known and respected guy, so I was like ‘OK, I’ll do my best.’“We really thought about it hard. On Normal you’ll be able to power your way through the game or shoot your way through the game, but when you try Hardcore or Insanity, you’re not going to be able to do that any more.”The ending result (hopefully) is a difficulty that still feels fairer: ”You really will have to think about each combat, who the enemies are, what kind of resistance you’re presented with, and then strategise to take them down. I’m hoping that it’ll feel like you made a mistake, and the game called you on it, rather than “I thought I was playing well, and then I died”.
Subject: Re: 69Osom GAMER'S SOULS WITHIN (Sept 21 2011-Apr 26 2012) Mon Jan 30, 2012 11:19 pm
We’ll have to watch our squad power-usage, too. Otherwise, they might ruin the perfect battle plan. ”If you’re just into pure mayhem, on Normal you can get away with that,” Watamaniuk added. “I find that on Insanity, it’s a little harder. Like, I wish I had Liara’s Warp right now, but she’s already cast something. So on Insanity I prefer to turn it off and keep full control.”Sounds like Mass Effect 3won’t have to go home, then. We can’t wait for its March 6 US release and March 9 EU one.

Yeah, some of the KOA supporters are not buying it, in response to EA's decision. However, it's actually the developers their not supporting, which sucks, but it's EA's fault. I'm torn, I like the game, but dislike EA, so I don't know if I will buy it.

I'll get Kingdoms OF Amalur: Reckoning because of the developers that worked hard in making it & i'll find ways not to support EA such as not buying EA sports games or their DLC or i'll buy EA games used. Or pass on getting MassEffect3 or a NeedforSpeed title. Pass on anything developed & published by EA.

Subject: SSX lets you play online without an Online Pass, but............C(: Tue Jan 31, 2012 9:51 pm
EA is trying something new with its Online Pass; instead of locking out the multiplayer component completely for those who don’t have the code (which is included with new copies and purchasable separately for $10), the soon-to-be-released SSXreboot will simply not give the player rewards. Everything will still be counted though, so should a player decide to get the Pass at a later time, the awards will be given retrospectively.A fresh approach, certainly.SSXwill hit the slopes on the PS3 and 360 in the US late next month, EU a few days later in early March.

Subject: Did The ESRB Just Confirm Alisa Bosconovitch For Street Fighter X Tekken? Wed Feb 01, 2012 11:35 am
Tekken android Alisa Bosconovitch and her chainsaw arms might be in Street Fighter X Tekken. The ESRB rated the game and mentions a fighter that uses chainsaws. That fits Alisa unless Blanka made a stop at Home Depot. Other weapons mentioned in the rating like laser swords and metal claws, probably belong to Yoshimitsu and Vega (claw) respectively. Here’s the rating with emphasizes Kuma explosive fart cross rush combo.
