Wonderbook: Book of Spells has a second “making of” installment for your viewing pleasure available. It’s posted below. In it, the developers detail how the structure of the book was put together and how the player can interact with the various spells. Wonderbook: Book of Spells will launch November 14 in Australia, November 15 in the UK and across Ireland on November 16.

Sony has posted another teaser video for what we’re presuming is a new ad campaign. This one is called “The Arrival” and it shows the same woman from the last video, typing code on a typewriter as an army jeep pulls up in front of the building she is in. Is it something to do with the new PS Store? Or something else entirely? We still haven’t a clue. All will be revealed on Tuesday, October 23 – which was the same day the new PS Store was set to launch in the US, only to be postponed.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus was confirmed for a North American digital release a few days ago, but surprisingly only the Xbox 360 version of the title was mentioned. Fortunately, Aksys has today confirmed that the title will be available for PS3 in the States well, though it won’t be available on the same day as the Xbox 360 version. While Xbox 360 gamers can download the game from October 24th, PS3 users will get the game a week later on November 1st. The game will cost 1200MSP or $15. The extra wait isn’t too bad, and this is certainly a case of better late than never.

Sony’s has been releasing a series of strange adverts recently, leading up to something we’re not quite sure of. However, this new clip – entitled ‘The Aftermath’ – shows the same woman walking through a hallway, and into a room where a man is sweeping bullets and weapons off the ground. We’re stumped.

The Entertainment Software Ratings Board has brought its Digital Rating Service online. The system allows developers of downloadable games to have their content instantly assessed by means of a questionnaire, at no cost. This is great news for small and indie developers wanting the professionalism of an ESRB rating on their product, but also for consumers and caregivers wanting guidance as to what apps are appropriate for various age groups. The new system has been in the works since early last year.

Darksiders 2 DLC, the Abyssal Forge, will be made available next week. The Abyssal Forge is a “living machine designed to harness the unfocused dark power of the Abyss & create the most powerful legendary weapons.”
Shadow Lands is a new gameplay zone with a new visual look, including “two challenging new dungeons, new enemies to best, secrets to uncover & unique legendary loot to collect.”
It’s “tailored” towards those who like a challenge as it contains the “hardest enemies & puzzles yet.”

The Abyssal Forge will be available on Xbox 360 and PC worldwide as well as PS3 in North America on October 30 The European PS3 version will go live the next day on October 31 for $9.99/800 MS Points.

Amazon has a new $300 PlayStation 3 bundle which offers a 320GB Slim (but not super-slim) console; one DualShock 3 controller; and a year’s subscription to PlayStation Plus. As the PS Blog notes, it’s a decent deal for those picking up their first PS3 as PS Plus’s Instant Collection scheme will help them snaffle some back catalogue gems.

We’ve known about it for a while – the companion game to the Vita’s Project Diva f has been announced for the PS3 for month. Yet, it was just in this week’s Famitsu magazine that Sega announced its release window as Spring 2013. The game will feature some adjusted mechanics, new modes and six new audio tracks. The adjusted features will come in when the Vita version required the touch-screen to hit certain cues. Obviously the vast majority of us poor folk don’t have gigantic touch-sensitive TVs in our front room, so those will need to be adjusted for the PS3.

Please note the only difference in the titles between the two games – the “F” is capitalized in the PS3 version and not in the already-released Vita title. Interesting, no? Unfortunately, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see this popular franchise hit Western shores. Everyone go give Sega a big sad face.

This Halloween trailer for Puppeteer might not give you the willies the way some of the others have done, but on the bright side, it is super charming.
Studio Japan doesn’t intend for Puppeteer to be purely a kid’s game which is a good thing as I am pretty enamored of it already. The PlayStation 3 exclusive is due in 2013, having been announced at gamescom as another of Sony’s late-generation new IPs

Sega has released a new trailer for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.
The clip shows guest character Ralph, who made the jump from his today-released Walt Disney animated picture Wreck-It Ralph.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is due for Wii U on November 18, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 20, PS Vita and 3DS on December 11, and for PC on an unannounced date.

After a delay from its October 23 release date, Sony has gone live with the new PlayStation Store in North America.
To access it, simply turn on your PlayStation 3, select the PlayStation Store icon under PlayStation Network, and you will be prompted to download the new store.

When Vikings Attack will unleash its horned hordes onto the PSN next week, Sony has announced.
North Americans will get developer Cross Beans’ wacky brawler on November 6, while Europeans get it a day later.
When Vikings Attack will be priced at $9.99 in the US and £7.99/€9.99 in Europe. The latter can get a 30% discount on their purchase, however, so long as they slap down a pre-order. The game also supports Sony’s ongoing Cross Buy promotion, meaning that if you buy either the PS3 or PS Vita versions of the game, you’ll get the other version for free.

The latest PlayStation Blogcast reveals that hyper-fast action title Vanquish will be hitting the PlayStation Store next week, on November 6.
No pricing details were announced, but as Destructoid reports, Xbox’s Games on Demand service is currently charging $19.99 for Platinum Games’ 2010 hit, so expect a figure around there.
This won’t be the first time Vanquish has found its way to the PSN, though, as it was released in Japan earlier this month.

Chinese gamers may be one step closer to using consoles today, as Sony has been awarded the China Compulsory Certificate for its PlayStation 3 in the country.
As TechinAsia informs us, the CCC is “a compulsory safety mark for many products imported, sold or used in the Chinese market.” Sony was reportedly issued one last July, making it good until 2016.
While certainly welcome news for hopeful gamers in the region, the certificate doesn’t necessarily guarantee that Sony will be able to officially put consoles on retail there.

Other dilemmas, such as ratings systems and cost, would have to be addressed before the PS3 was cleared for launch.
Technically speaking, gaming consoles have been banned in China since 2000, although they are frequently sold as grey market imports and labelled as “home entertainment devices.”

Persona 4: Golden won’t make it to Europe in 2012, local publisher Zen United has confirmed. A 2012 release for Persona 4 Arena is now no longer possible,” Zen United stated in a post on the Persona Europe Facebook page,
“We will of course, continue to update you, as soon as we have more information. We know this is very upsetting for many of you – us included, we might add – and we sincerely look forward to being able to deliver better news to you soon.”
As for the reason why, Zen United referred fans back to a September FAQ, when the publisher revealed it had not yet received a completed European build.

“As we are not directly involved with the development of the game, we do not have any further information about its progress – or when the European build will be complete,” it said at the time.
Zen United noted that the European build’s progress is not dependent on the Japanese and US release; that it is not pursuing translations and has completed age ratings process – only receipt of the master and certification remains.
“For all EU games, there are a number of changes that need to be done to bring it in line with the regulations laid out by Sony and Microsoft in Europe. These regulations are to ensure the game will work correctly in each individual PAL territory, from individual EU countries to Australia and UK. It is at this point in the process, that the game has been delayed,” it said.

Once we have received the EU master – our job, as publisher, is to submit that build to Sony and Microsoft for final testing and approval. Once it has been approved, we can manufacture and package the game, and ship it for release. Once this has happened, we will announce a specific day and date that this game will hit store shelves.”
“You will get something nice for the delay,” the publisher added. “We understand everyone’s frustration surrounding this, so we are preparing something – and we’ll announce that once the new schedule for release is in place.”
Persona 4 Arena is expected on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and hit the US in August.
Meanwhile, Persona 4: Golden is expected in Europe in February 2013, although nothing has been made official.

Skullgirls developer Reverge Labs has announced that a much-anticipated patch has cleared certification with SCE America. Community manager Peter Bartholemew told Shoryuken that the title update still needs to clear SCE Europe and Microsoft’s processes before going live on either platform.
One of the update’s key features is an update to the way the game handles lag; c gave a detailed explanation of the upcoming changes on the Shoryuken forum for the tech-minded.

Future Publishing’s US arm has confirmed it will cease production of PlayStation: The Official Magazine. GameInformer reports The magazine’s last release will be the holiday 2012 issue.
PlayStation: The Official Magazine, abbreviated as PTOM, began life in September 1997 as the independent and unofficial PlayStation Magazine.
After Ziff Davis shuttered Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine, Future partnered with Sony to rebrand PSM as PlayStation: The Official Magazine as of October 2007.

Neither Future nor PTOM staff have issued any comment on the closure at this time, and it is unknown how the magazine’s staff will be affected.
Future also publishes the UK PlayStation Official Magazine. Its long-running Nintendo Power will also cease with the December issue.
Sony has not advised whether a new magazine will replace POTM, although its worth noting that it closed down its PlayStation Network based video magazine Qore this year.
