Marcin Iwinski, CEO of CD Project Red, recently commented in an interview with Forbes:
Gamers download [pirate copies] because it’s easy, fast, and, frankly, costs nothing. If they like the game and they start investing the time, some of them will go and buy it. This is evident in the first Witcher, where the total sales are 2.1M units at present and the game is still doing well, although it is already 5 years old.
winski makes a strong case for the abandonment of DRM. CD Projekt Red had adopted RIAA policies in the past as an alternative, but backlash from leagues of fans forced them to drop the changes and simply stop using DRM and RIAA policies altogether. Fellow giants like Blizzard, however, show no signs of stopping DRM, even with devastating bugs and errors plaguing its wake. Whether or not CD Projekt Red’s precedence is followed is yet to be seen.

Sony’s annual Playstation Experience is back on tour for 2012, and the lineup so far is more than enticing. For those unfamiliar with the Playstation Experience, it is an event held annually by Sony to showcase their newest titles and bring the gaming community together (although you can guess which one they’re betting their money on). The event features gaming kiosks, gaming contests, concerts, and opportunities to get your hands on unreleased titles. The first 4 DLC characters for the upcoming console version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 have been revealed in this new teaser trailer! The first DLC characters pack will include Michelle, Angel, Ogre and Kunimitsu! This DLC will be FREE of charge, as producer Harada stated previously.

The publisher has also announced a PC version is in development, coming “later in 2013″.
Ninja Theory’s reboot of the series had never been given a proper date until now since its controversial reveal at Tokyo Game Show nearly two years ago.
Capcom’s announced the game’s voicework will be localised into English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, with subs translated into Polish, Dutch, Russian, and Brazilian Portuguese.
DMC will be at E3 in two weeks time as part of Capcom’s line-up for the show.

The full 2010 contract between Bungie and Activision has come to light, revealing some slim, potentially revised details of the Halo developer’s new projects. The LA Times published the entrie 27 page contract between the two companies.
While details of the deal may have changed since the 2010 agreement, the contract locks Bungie into a four game deal, for a series of “action shooter” titles.
The original plan had the first title, code named Destiny, down for a late 2013 release with sequels to follow every second year thereafter.

The first release was expected to be exclusive to Xbox consoles – either the 360 or its successor – but the franchise would later expand to PC and PlayStation.
The contract also covers four expansion packs, codenamed Comet, to be released on alternate years beginning in 2014, meaning the studio would have a major launch every year.
Interestingly, the contract outs a bonus of $2.5 million to be paid to the developer should Destiny achieve a 90 average critical rating; although bonuses of this kind are not uncommon, Develop claims it is likely the largest critical bonus pay out to be made public. Bungie signed with Activision after severing ties with Microsoft, which fostered the company through its years as Halo’s creator and developer. 343 Industries has since taken over.

As you might have noticed on our brooding site skin, THQ has released the promised live action teaser for Metro: Last Light. Check it out through the break.
Last Light is the sequel to 2010′s Metro 2033, and is expected to release in early 2013 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Square-Enix has updated their YouTube page with a new video showing off the Snow’s Story DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2. The first part of the video focuses on the fight against Snow himself, while the second part shows the battle with Valfodr which will reportedly be the most difficult fight in the entire game. You also get to see a lot of the new DLC costumes for the characters. Noel looks completely ridiculous, but doesn’t Mog look adorable in the new getup?

Hideo Kojima has been very busy enjoying the demo of Platinum Games’ Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Today he took to his Twitter to page to announce that fans would get a look at new game-play footage before E3. It is said that Kojima enjoyed the demo so much that he wanted to release footage early, and the higher ups gave him the O.K. He also shared the image below, which shows a hand that appears to be emerging from a game over screen. Not sure what’s up with that but whatever. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is expected on HD consoles sometime this year.

Hold on to your Devil Triggers, folks. Devil May Cry‘s five-year hiatus will be coming to an end by early next year. Capcom released an announcement today stating that Ninja Theory’s DmC will hit shelves on January 15th, 2013. To sweeten the deal, they just released an introduction to Kat, one of the members of our all-new DmC cast. Kat is a former runaway that joined The Order very early in her life. She is a medium and a gifted psychic who can see into Limbo, the demon realm, but not directly interact with it in the way that Dante does.

Touted as the “eyes and ears” of The Order, Kat is described as the right hand to the Leader and tasked with guiding our new Dante through Limbo. Not just a mere tour guide, Kat’s devotion to The Order is considered second to none, often putting her own life on the line and placing herself in grave danger in order to gather intelligence. The game will also feature a PC release as well as fully localized audio in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian. Subtitles will also be available in Polish, Dutch, Russian, and Brazilian Portuguese. Will it work out in Capcoms favor? Dante is an icon of the video gaming industry and the franchise is known for his particular brand of self-assured “come what may” mischief as much as it is loved for its fast paced, “keeping it stylish” brand of gameplay. Either way, we won’t have to wait long to see if Dante and Ninja Theory are up to the task.

A new trailer was published today for the upcoming game, Darksiders II. The sequel to the original Darksiders will focus on the story of Death, War’s brother. The video already has accolades and praises for the game, with GamingExcellence calling it, “What a sequel should be.” Outside of the reviews, it features Death fighting a giant monster bare-handed. Okay, so he wasn’t bare-handed at first, but still.

Platinum Games published today a new video showcasing the multiplayer of Anarchy Reigns, that will reach the North American shores on July the 3rd for Xbox 360 and Ps3. The video, commented (in Japanese) by the developers, showcases the multiplayer of the game on a map that features a pier and an aircraft carrier, giving players the ability to jump between the two areas.

Bit of a strange one, this; Hideo Kojima has teased a ‘black Raiden’ appearing in the upcoming Metal Gear Rising.
The series mastermind wrote on Twitter: “I asked producer Korekado to reveal black Raiden over the net prior to E3 since I found the black Raiden is so cool in the demo of METAL GEAR RISING.”
What could black Raiden be? A different costume for the game’s sword-slinging hero? Perhaps we’ll found out shortly before E3, as Kojima’s words suggest

Another one bites the dust; Aliens: Colonial Marines is now a 2013 title.
Previously on for this Spring, the game was delayed today to February 2013. To make it sting a little less, a concrete date was offered up as well: February 12th is the worldwide date.

Gran Turismo 5 Trailer
In a LinkedIn Profile for one of Sony Computer Entertainment America’s associate brand managers, Gran Turismo 6 is listed among managed products, suggesting a reveal may be closer than expected.
The Gran Turismo 6 reference is in present tense, while later talk of Gran Turismo 5 is in the past, which the canny NeoGaf massive rightly points out makes a typo seem less likely.

Gran Turismo 5 was released in late 2010 but is still being actively supported by developer Polyphony Digital with updates, DLC and GT Academy. Nevertheless, the long development cycle of the racing sim series means the team has already confirmed the next game is in development, and that it may launch on the next PlayStation console. Polyphony staffers have allegedly been spotted scoping out tracks worldwide.

Bad blood is in the air, do you know the source of it? That's right fellow criminals of the Japaese underworld, Yakuza is the source, more specifically Yakuza 5. Which details for were revealed this week in Famitsu, the biggest of which is that there will be 5 (yes count em 5) main characters. The first of two, is, Haruka Sawamura (returning character from original Yakuza) the daughter (based on behavior between the two) of Kazuma Kiryu. It is unknown how battles will unfold, while playing as her.
The second character is Shinda, a former baseball player, who was banned from the game for gambling. The game will pick up right where 4 left off.

Subject: Lei Fang Confirmed for "Dead or Alive 5" from Images in Newest "Famitsu" Wed May 23, 2012 11:25 am
So far, all we've seen for Dead or Alive 5 are familiar faces--ninja half-sisters Ayane and Kasumi, their male counterparts Hayate and Hayabusa, rough-and-tumble karate practitioner Hitomi, and strangely enough, Virtua Fighter leading man Akira Yuki.
It really shouldn't come as any surprise, then, that graceful Tai Chi Chuan fighter Lei Fang is the next fighter to be added to the roster, having been a series regular since the original Dead or Alive. Unfortunately, the only images available are these blurry screens snapped from the latest Famitsu, but we'll be sure to show off more as they become available!

Vigil was in London to show off new Darksiders II content last week. Sam Clay chatted to creative manager Jeremy Grenier about the first level and the feathery CrowFather. Did you know Darksiders II’s first level features a dude known as the CrowFather? You do now.
He’s a main characters that guides Death on his way in the Vigil sequel.

Darksiders II launches on August 14 in the US and August 17 in the UK for PS3, 360 and PC. A Wii U version will follow afterwards as a launch title.

Speaking at THQ’s pre-E3 showcase in London last week, Grenier couldn’t give a ballpark on how long it would be on an “average” playthrough, but said the amount of content included made it a bigger game than its predecessor.
“Clocktime for an average playthrough is really hard to put a finger on right now since we’re going through finalisation. But I’d say easily the critical path is gonna be 25 plus hours,” he said.
“Just looking as usability right now, that’s easy. But we have a ton of side content. Darksiders II is a much bigger game than Darksiders 1 in a couple of ways.
“The scale is bigger. It’s much more grounded, it’s much more epic, we put a lot in the engine to accomplish that from a visual standpoint.

At the same time, it’s a much bigger game content wise. And we’re all working to polish all that up to a AAA quality as we speak.”
Darksiders II was due to release in June, but was pushed into August.
“We asked for more time to polish up the game. I mentioned before that the game is massive. And with that much content, it takes a lot of time to work out all the bugs and kinks. “But we’re on track to hit all our submission dates and we’re really excited to get this game out to market really soon.”
Darksiders II launches on August 14 in the US and August 17 in the UK for PS3, 360 and PC. A Wii U version will follow afterwards as a launch title for the new hardware.
