Bioware wants you to love Mass Effect 3's multiplayer. The developer recognizes fans' wariness, especially after EA's other headscratching multiplayer inclusion for Dead Space 2. Nick Clifford, product marketing for Bioware wants people to know this mode is more integrated and not tacked on. "Dead Space felt like it was a separate mode from the single player experience," Clifford said in an interview held in San Francisco this week. "So what is it about single player that people love with Mass Effect? It's the story, the RPG elements, and it's the gameplay."

Mass Effect 3's entirely optional multiplayer (which the developer has been trying to make since the first game) ties in with the game's single player campaign, allowing gamers to unlock easter eggs and get some assistance from allies. The system works similarly to Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood where players could deploy their "mini-army" that they built up in the multiplayer game. But unlike Assassin's Creed the leveling system is shorter, so players can boost soldiers, import them into single player, then level up additional characters.

The multiplayer is broken up into different zones: Terminus Systems, Outer Council Space, Inner Council Space, Earth Systems Alliance Space, and the Attican Traverse. According to Clifford, the locations and types of missions you play in multiplayer will "directly impact the missions that [imported characters] can play in."

A number of rumors emerged over the weekend involving the future of THQ, none of which painted an especially promising picture for the publisher. Despite suggestions that it had canceled its entire slate of games set to come out in 2014, it has released a statement denying that is the case. It all started when Kevin Dent, the head of the IGDA Mobile Special Interest Group, began tweeting about the dire situation THQ finds itself in. According to him, THQ canceled not only The Games Workshop's MMO (referring to Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium Online), but "all of their 2014 [games]." Also alarming was him suggesting, "[W]ord is spreading that THQ has returned IP to Disney AFTER paying the advance, with no refund."

He said this was in an attempt to "preserve cash," as the company could run out sometime between April and June of this year. (Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter suggested the same in an investors note last month.) Initially he said the root cause comes "from [THQ CEO Brian] Farrell's insistence on making a second uDraw product" when the "first one sold 'ok.'" He later reconsidered and suggested it was releasing Saints Row: The Third in November (as opposed to a Q1 release) that was THQ's "biggest mistake." In subsequent tweets he clarified that he thinks "THQ shuttering is a long shot to say the least, they will either take financing or do a pipe. Money is cheap now." He added, "...until THQ says 'x' it is all speculation and rumors."

Despite those qualifications, which came after all the doom and gloom, it wasn't hard to believe that THQ could be in trouble. The company traded at over $36 in 2007; as of this past Friday, its stock is now worth only $0.66. For comparison's sake, EA is currently trading at $18.04, Activision Blizzard $12.24, and Take-Two $14.50. Seeking to do damage control before that situation can get any worse, THQ released a statement denying what Dent had suggested and talking up the performance of certain 2011 games. "THQ has not cancelled its 2014 line-up, and has not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO," the statement reads. "As part of the ongoing review of our business, we have made decisions to ensure that the company is strategically addressing the most attractive markets. As we have previously announced, we have dramatically reduced our commitment to the kids' boxed games sector which leads to a significantly more focused release schedule moving forward.

It appears that a source within Capcom has been leaking information regarding Resident Evil 6, in which the source states that the game will feature both Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy as the two lead characters, which if true, means this could very well be the biggest Resident Evil to date, as this is something fans have wanted for along time!

The same source has also stated that Ada Wong, will be featured in the game as well, but has not stated what role she will play! There are many who believe that the game will be revealed tonight at Cacpom's "Fright Club" event, we'll just have to wait and see!

We’ve tagged this report as a rumour, but it’s not: Resident Evil 6 is happening folks, and it’s happening sooner than you think. A retail poster snapped by a GameStop-employed IGN reader all but confirms as much, showing off the game’s logo in addition to a November 20th, 2012 release date. While there was plenty of general information to divulge from Capcom’s Resident Evil celebrations in Tokyo overnight, the spotlight was unsurprisingly on the recently announced Resident Evil 6.As hinted in the debut trailer yesterday, returning protagonist Leon will be joined by a brand new security officer named Helena Harper. Chris Redfield will also get a new partner too, but the character’s name is being kept under wraps for now.In other naming news, the snarling monstrosity glimpsed throughout the trailer is known as Javo, and is said to have an “even greater impact than the zombies”. Naturally, the character’s hulking size and terrifying persona is drawing comparisons to Resident Evil 3′s Nemesis.

If you’re not familiar with the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, it’s a JRPG take on the console wars. Get this, the game is set in the fictional world of Gaminudtri. Brilliant, huh?While the first game explored the rivalry between home consoles, it’s sequel — due out in Europe on February 24th and North America on February 28th — looks at the portable market. Of course, you’re not actually controlling animated PlayStations and XBOXs. No, instead the consoles are represented as hot anime school girls. For example, the protagonist in Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 is called Nepgear.
