Rumors regarding the PlayStation 4 have been somewhat less frequent, both because the PS3 is a year younger than the 360 and because of Sony's dedication to providing a long life cycle for its systems. There have been reports that first-party studios are already at work on games for the PS4, while others suggest the system could come out in 2012 and be equipped with Kinect-style motion controls. What we do know for sure is Sony -- at least publicly -- doesn't feel pressured to rush the PS4 to market because of Wii U, but it will be (and almost certainly already has been) soliciting game makers for their feedback as the system is designed. This year's E3 is set to take place June 5-7 in Los Angeles.

A fleeting mention of Oyaji Games’ Mecho Wars in the latest episode of the Official PlayStation Blogcast has confirmed the ambitious Advance Wars inspired turn-based strategy game for release in North America next week (January 10th).The game — which was announced more than a year ago — boasts the artwork of the delightfully outspoken Luc Bernard, and looks fabulous. The title features environmental factors that have an impact on the gameplay — for example, water freezes at night. Every turn takes an hour to complete in gameplay time, so you need to think ahead with each move in order to command a strategic advantage.

It’s hard to believe that a group of executives at Prototype 2 developer, Radical Entertainment, signed off on the game’s exclusive GameStop pre-order bonus. Entitled the embarrassingly lame “Butt Kicker”, the power upgrade is actually a modified version of the game’s explosive human javelin Bio-Bomb ability — allowing you to, ahem, kick foes in the butt really, really hard.It sounds dumb as hell, but the trailer actually does a good job of the selling the upgrade.

Seriously?! why would they give this to gamestop, when gamers detest that company. It really looks like a fun power up too! I think it was a bad decision.

Who knows maybe GameStop is the 1st to jump on getting the exclusive, hopefully Best-buy & other will get their own exclusive content. However i find that ridiculous, exclusive content divided among different stores making things harder for gamers to decide.

As reluctant as I am to say this, I think it would've been better to just have it as dlc.

I think you're right about it being released as overpriced DLC later! I don't know who came up with this concept in the first place, what makes one store more special than another? buying a game is buying a game.

It's all about competition.
Best-but has gotten into the pre-order situation 4 awhile now, wal-mart & others too. So naturally GameStop would try & get an exclusive DLC 1st. When one does it another then tries to be more appealing & out sell it's competitors.
If the game is hyped enough then you'll see an ArkhamCity thing happening with the DLC split between the competing stores.

THQ’s 2011 shooter Homefrontlooks to be returning this year with an Ultimate Edition of the game.The next release was spotted by Eurogamer on a THQ release schedule. No details on what extras we might see have been announced, but it’s a safe bet that the two pieces of post-release DLC (multiplayer map packs named The Rock and Fire Sale) will be thrown in, and the whole package will perhaps come at a reduced price.Homefront‘s original developers, Kaos, have closed down since the release of the game, but now Crytek UK is working on a sequel.

Star Wars: The Old Republic‘s impressively large voice-over effort has secured BioWare a place in the Guinness World Records, Gamefront reports. The MMO is included in the 2012 Gamer’s Edition book with the honor of being the “Largest Entertainment Voice Over Project,” meaning it also eclipses any feature film ever made.The game is said to have over 200,000 lines of recorded dialogue, delivered by over 900 voice actors and actresses. Capcom’s dropped some intel outlining each of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City’s multiplayer modes. The spin-off tactical shooter — which got a stunning CG trailer at the back-end of last week — pitches the Umbrella Security Service against the US Spec Ops, with hordes of zombies adding to the exhilarating affair. It’s a cool concept, but hands-on impressions haven’t been particularly favourable to date.Still, with the game not due out until later in the year, developer Slant Six has got plenty of time to tidy things up. Unsurprisingly there’s Team Deathmatch, which sees teams facing off in tactical battles. Then there’s Biohazard mode, which is a fictionally appropriate twist on Capture The Flag. Elsewhere, there’s Survivors mode, which sounds a lot like a multiplayer version of Resident Evil’s popular Mercenaries campaign, and Heroes mode, which allows you to play as a number of famous faces from the Resident Evil franchise.It doesn’t sound like a lot, but if the core gameplay’s strong then there should be plenty to get your teeth into.

Y’know, we’re going to be honest with you: we didn’t know that Ninja Gaiden 3 was getting a multiplayer component. But the video montage after the jump proves as much, and, if we’re honest, we’re quite excited to play it. Sure it looks totally unbalanced and completely ridiculous — but we reckon Ninja Gaiden’s frantic action is a good fit for multiplayer.
