Subject: Red Orchestra 2 wants to patch your game, erase your stats Fri Oct 07, 2011 8:58 pm
Tonight, Red Orchestra 2 will be performing a selection of its classic hits, including, "Bugs and Glitches," "Tripwire on Fire" and its most recent single, "This Patch will Erase All of your Player Stats." All of these songs are inspired by a true story -- Friday'sRed Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad patch fixes many of the game's glitches, including ones that gave players unearned stat raises and achievements, but it will also reset all players' stats to zero. :flasher: CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE :flasher: http://i.joystiq.com/2011/10/07/red-orchestra-2-wants-to-patch-your-game-erase-your-stats/

This amounts to roughly three weeks of glitch-enabled stat gathering for many players, but Tripwire said it's the only way to maintain the integrity of the entire stat system. To compensate these players, Tripwire is handing out an "In B4 Reset" achievement and plans to award those who have it in the future. The next few weeks will also see double experience points for all players. This is unfortunate, but not game-ending -- we would suggest against whining about it, because Red Orchestra's tiny violin is just a pet name for this

But we just don’t believe it’s real. The footage shows a straight forward one-on-one brawler with bonkers amounts destructibility. We like a bit of flash in our games, and if Tecmo can measure the pizazz against some genuinely balanced gameplay, we’re in.But we’re just not sure if it’s possible. :flasher: GO HERE 4 MORE :flasher: http://www.pushsquare.com/32369/we-really-hope-dead-or-alive-5-is-as-cinematic-as-its-trailer/

Yeah it looks amazing. I've played all the Dead or alive games, the best one was Dead or Alive 3, but i think Soul Calibur 4 spoiled me with the character creation. I like making my own fighters. Have you played Dead or alive before

Bayman was cool, i loved the background stories to each character & DOA beach volleyball was sweet, DOA beach volleyball 2 was razza-fraggin annoying. DOA 4 the reversals were a little difficult & annoying to pull off but it was okay. I loved Rumble Roses XX over it. SSX I loved the personalities of each character & i hope they bring that & character creation back.
Subject: Bulletstorm's Profanity Took its Polish Developer by Surprise Sat Oct 08, 2011 8:01 pm
Warning: The video above is full of NSFWlanguage. Of course, that should be a given as it showcases footage from Bulletstorm, a game laced with profanity. The video is a collection of many of the swears from the early portion of the game and is just a sample of what you'll hear over the course of the full campaign. Given just how much naughty language there is, one might assume developer People Can Fly was fully aware of how it would come across. Yet it wasn't until fairly late in the game that the Polish developer grasped just how dirty the characters' mouths are. "Do you know any swear word in a foreign language," asked People Can Fly creative director Adrian Chmielarz in an interview with Game Developer(via Gamasutra). :flasher: CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE :flasher: http://www.1up.com/news/bulletstorm-profanity-took-polish-developer-surprise
Subject: Re: 69Osom GAMER'S SOULS WITHIN (Sept 21 2011-Apr 26 2012) Sat Oct 08, 2011 8:02 pm
German, French, Polish? When you say it out loud, no biggie, right? Not a problem to use it during a family dinner, I assume? "That is how all the f-bombs sounded to us. Being Polish, all the strong language in Bulletstorm was just exotic and fun to us. We did not feel its power. In other words, Epic thought this is what we wanted and respected our creative vision, while we had no idea this vision was a bit more than we really wanted." Bulletstorm was co-developed by Epic Games and published by Electronic Arts this past February. Epic acquired a majority interest in PCF back in 2007. "It was only at the end of the development, when I read the Polish translation of the game, that I realized how dirty we were," Chmielarz continued. "I swear a lot. A LOT. And yet still I ...kind of blushed."
Subject: Re: 69Osom GAMER'S SOULS WITHIN (Sept 21 2011-Apr 26 2012) Sat Oct 08, 2011 8:02 pm
In addition to the language used by the characters, various skillshots -- awarded for doing certain things like shooting an enemy in the crotch or butt -- have innuendo-inspired names like "Deep Penetration," "Gag Reflex," "Rear Entry," "Ejeculated," and of course we can't forget "Assplosion." A combination of this along with other aspects of the game led Fox News to ask if Bulletstorm was the worst game in the world. EA didn't feel the controversy was such a bad thing, and that it should actually be "courted" where appropriate. The game itself turned out to be good but not great, and controversy or not, it didn't end up as a moneymaker for Epic. That doesn't mean expectations for People Can Fly are any lower -- Epic president Mike Capps said over the summer, "The next thing we do with People Can Fly will be great. :flasher: CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE :flasher: http://www.1up.com/news/bulletstorm-profanity-took-polish-developer-surprise
Subject: Many Battlefield 3 Issues Being Resolved in Time for Launch, Producer Reiterates it's a Beta Sat Oct 08, 2011 8:58 pm
Many of those who have been able to try the Battlefield 3 beta since it kicked off late last month have been quick to pass judgment based on its glitches and bugs. With a release coming in less than three weeks, there have been questions about how all of these issues will be worked out by then. (DICE says many of them will be; more on that a minute.) Whether it's because other betas have been released that essentially operated as demos or some other reason, there seems to be a misconception about what a beta is, says producer Patrick Liu.
Subject: Re: 69Osom GAMER'S SOULS WITHIN (Sept 21 2011-Apr 26 2012) Sat Oct 08, 2011 8:58 pm
"I think there's been a misunderstanding of the term 'beta test,'" Liu told the Guardian. The Operation Metro map featured in the beta may lack vehicles and not show off Conquest mode, two things fans want to see, but again, this is a betaand therefore the goals DICE had in mind might not perfectly align with what gamers want in a demo. "We ran the alpha tests with a Rush map and we wanted to have some sort of reference so we could compare results -- so we needed to have more-or-less the same map," he explained. "But we do understand the concerns that we didn't show a Conquest map, but we have demoed Caspian Border, and we did run a Conquest map as a limited PC-only test." :flasher: CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE :flasher: http://www.1up.com/news/battlefield-3-issues-resolved-for-launch-its-a-beta
Subject: People Would be "Really Sick" of Resident Evil if it Didn't Branch Out From Survival Horror Sat Oct 08, 2011 9:02 pm
The upcoming 3DS game Resident Evil: Revelations looks to be returning to the series' roots as a survival horror series, but that's not indicative of the direction the entire franchise is moving in. In June we saw the arcade-style shooter The Mercenaries 3D released on 3DS, and Slant Six is currently at work on Operation Raccoon City, a third-person shooter. Recent numbered games (RE4 and 5) have been more action-oriented than the older games in the series. It's a diverse array of games to come out of the same franchise in a fairly short period of time, and that's helped to keep the series from becoming stale, according to Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata.
Subject: Re: 69Osom GAMER'S SOULS WITHIN (Sept 21 2011-Apr 26 2012) Sat Oct 08, 2011 9:03 pm
At the core, basically, we want to make the best use of our brand. Resident Evil is an IP, and a franchise, that people have loved for a long time," Kawata told Gamasutra. "It's still very, very popular and we're very, very happy about that, and we want to basically answer all the requests that we get about the series. People want to see a lot of different experiences within the Resident Evil universe, and so we've been fortunate enough to be able to answer those requests with a lot of different experiences, in different forms, in games." This isn't entirely new. The results weren't always good, but Resident Evil has explored different genres and styles of play in the past: Resident Evil: Dead Aim was a light gun shooter released in 2003, while the two Outbreak games (released in 2004 and 2005 in North America, respectively) featured online multiplayer support.
Subject: Re: 69Osom GAMER'S SOULS WITHIN (Sept 21 2011-Apr 26 2012) Sat Oct 08, 2011 9:04 pm
Asked if he worries about the series becoming diluted, Kawata said he isn't because "all these different Resident Evil games that are coming out are focused on very different things. I'm thinking that if we would have brought out all these Resident Evil titles, and they were all focused on survival horror, absolutely I think people would be really sick of Resident Evil. "But in my mind, we've got this online shooter game, we've got other things like Mercenaries that are even more action-focused, and some other games. And by going in a lot of different directions, I'm pretty confident that people are going to still be enjoying Resident Evil for a long time. :flasher: CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE :flasher: http://www.1up.com/news/people-really-sick-resident-evil-didnt-branch-out
Subject: Mirror’s Edge sequel has a market, DICE says; still won’t announce it Sat Oct 08, 2011 9:09 pm
Here we go, DICE has seen fit to give us some more teases over the Mirror’s Edgesequel that just will not come, this time saying the studio sees a definite market for it.Words from producer Patrick Liu: “I think it’s something that people are ready to get into again. We see that there’s a huge fan following, it’s almost like a cult! And we know what strengths we had, and what weaknesses we had in that game. If we were to release a new game, we’d know what to improve and how to reach a broader audience. So I definitely think there’s a market there.”This is far from the first time folk from DICE have made just-short-of-an-announcement comments similar to Liu’s. People have been speculating for some time that Skullgirls wouldn’t make a 2011 release – a lot of this due to our unorthodox “gameplay first” development approach and willingness to show work in progress. We’re strongly dedicated to quality and feel more time can be spent polishing the game, so with Autumn Games’ blessing we have decided to delay Skullgirls’ launch until early 2012. :flasher: CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE :flasher: http://skullgirls.com/2011/09/skullgirls-launching-in-early-2012/

Don’t worry – development is proceeding apace, and we’ll announce a firm release date as soon as we can. The vagaries of digital distribution and the submission process make that impossible at this point, but Skullgirlsshould be launching early in the first quarter of 2012. Even though this is a relatively small delay, there’s a lot it will let us finish up and polish in the final months of the game’s development. There are a lot of reasons behind this delay, but the overriding one is that we’re just trying to make the best game we can. As tournament attendees and forum-goers know, we’ve done extensive tweaking and added new features based on community feedback. While many of these things are individually small, they add up over time and can delay other tasks – some companies call this “feature creep,” but we call it the extra polish that takes a game from “good” to “great.”Here are a few of the changes and features we’ve implemented or will be implementing based on the community’s feedback:

Tribes: Ascendlooks to have a beta date. According to a recent interview with Hi-Rez COO Todd Harris, the testing is to kick off early next month, on November 4th.“The team is working hard for closed beta to start on Friday, November 4th, so, a few weeks away,” says Harris.“We plan on announcing that more broadly next week, and as you may have known if you’ve been following us, we wanted to start in September originally, that was kind of our original plan, but there were a few adjustments that we wanted to make before beta.” :flasher: CLICK THE LINK 4 MORE :flasher: http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2011/10/09/tribes-beta-dated-for-early-november/

Just in case Battlefield 3isn’t living up to your hopes and dreams, here’s a bit of hope: the misfits of Bravo Company may return soon enough.“We haven’t killed Bad Company!” DICE producer Patrick Liu has exclaimed to The Guardian, much to our delight.“But we can only make so many games. Be patient – there might be something else coming up…“We always have a couple of projects going on – some of them die, but some are more fruitful. We don’t have any plans to make Battlefield an annual title – we want to make it ourselves we don’t want anyone else doing it!”Battlefield: Bad Company 3in 2013? Subject: Stalker 2 has a reason for requiring a constant connection Sun Oct 09, 2011 9:30 pm
GSC Game World looks to be getting a controversial issue out of the way even before a single screenshot from its next game, Stalker 2, is shown: the game will require the player to remain connected at all times. This according to studio founder Sergey Grigorovich who freely admits that “permanent Internet access is required.”That’s because, he explains, the game actually goes to the server to get certain information: “Part of the content will be located on the server and downloaded as the game progresses. Text information, code and quests will be loaded through that connection.”It doesn’t sound like this is done specifically to keep away pirates then. GSC seems to sport a different attitude on the subject:

“If people can not afford a licensed version, it is to our advantage if they download a pirated copy, and then want to buy a license,” he said. “In Ukraine, there are different products that people love so much that they buy a license in principle.
